🌽 Dolly Parton (R.I.P.) Corn Maze Now Open. Irons Mill Farmstead in New Wilmington just opened for the fall season, debuting their Dolly Parton Corn Maze. They partnered with Dolly’s Imagination Library to celebrate 31 years of impact. Imagination Library is Dolly’s foundation that mails a free book to kids from birth to 5 years old every month. In fact, 1/6 kids in the US are enrolled in the program. Visiting the corn maze means you get to help out the program, as a portion of the maze’s proceeds will be donated to Imagination Library.

🎄The Most Re-Used Shot in Hallmark History. We all know that Sewickley is basically a living snow globe Christmas scene. But what I didn’t realize is that the most re-used shot is the corner of Broad St and Beaver St. I grew up watching Hallmark Christmas movies with my grandma so I’ve certainly seen the shot a time or two. If this has you feeling festive, Hallmark has a couple of Christmas movies playing on Friday night starting at 6 pm.

🀄️ Mahjong lovers rejoice! Mahjong seems to be sweeping the nation with pop-ups happening all the time. I checked other cities as well to see if their Mahj groups are thriving like ours, and sure enough, it’s popping off. If you’re in the wave or are at least Mahj-curious, you can check out The Mahji Bird in Southpointe, our very first Mahjong Boutique. They have open plays, lessons, and a curated selection of boards, tiles, and accessories.

We’re now just a month away from Citizens Live at The Wylie opening up in the Lower Hill District. It’ll serve as our city’s newest entertainment venue, hosting live music and comedy shows.

Citizens Live is an homage to our cultural heritage of the 50s when the Lower Hill District was known as the “Crossroads of the world,” where some of Jazz’s biggest names performed nightly. Now, it’ll do the same thing for the modern era. We’ll see local acts alongside global names that you can catch night in and night out.

Opening weekend features performances by Wiz Khalifa (Friday, October 2nd), Styx (Saturday, October 3rd), and Foster The People (Sunday, October 4th). You can check out the tickets here.

Pittsburgh International is holding its annual online lost & found auction, and bidding has already begun on some items. I scoped out what’s available, and there’s some really good stuff. Vintage Coca-Cola fridge anyone? An e-bike? Maybe some AirPods? You can check it out and place bids here.

For the first time in over a decade, Allegheny County will be holding property reassessments. They’ll be starting in 2027 and will be completed by 2032. And they’ll need to be reassessed every 5 years going forward. You can read more about it here.
