Happy Tuesday! This past weekend, we took a hike in McConnells Mill State Park for the first time. If you’ve never been, I highly recommend it! The landscape was gorgeous with rock formations that were super unique. We’re putting it on the list to visit again in the fall once the leaves start to turn.
Guide to Picklesburgh 2026
If you were to ask me my favorite holidays, I’d say Christmas, Halloween, Picklesburgh. With it expanding this year, I feel like it’s safe to call it a Pittsburgh holiday at this point. I also just learned that its been rated the #1 Specialty Food Festival in the US 4 times by USA Today. So now I really feel justified calling it a Pittsburgh holiday. I’ll get Corey O’Connor on the phone to make it happen! Alright, I had my fun; here’s the rundown:
The Deets
Dates - July 16-19
Time - Noon to 10 pm every day except Sunday, when it closes at 6 pm
Last year, it was expanded to celebrate the 10th anniversary. This year, they’ve taken it a step further by keeping the same footprint as last year AND adding Market Square and Arts Landing. It’s safe to say you need the whole weekend to see it all.
If you can take the T, I highly recommend it. Parking is a beast. But if you’re not able to take the T, use this real-time parking map to see what’s available.
Check out the festival map to get a lay of the land.

Trivia
How many people attended Picklesburgh last year?
Last Week’s Answer: 1877
On The Market

I try not only to pick expensive houses because it feels a little like cheating. Of course they’ll have great architecture or cool features. So to pick one, it really needs to stand out. This kitchen stands OUT. A little breakfast nook on one side, the kitchen, and then an informal seating area at the end. All lined with skylights and a ton of windows. It’s a natural light lover’s dream!

The Photo Desk
Everyone always talks about a California sunset. I don’t think they’ve ever seen a Pittsburgh sunset. The colors are insane.

Crowdfunding the Pirates
An Instagram account called MLB Hall of Good started a plan to buy the Pirates via crowdfunding. If every one of their current 265,000 followers all chipped in $4,980, we could buy the Pirates. Is this likely to happen? No. Am I going to follow along for the ride? Heck yes. Throw them a follow so you can pitch in if it happens.
Steepest Street in the Continental US
The 412 got some love this past weekend by National Geographic. They featured Canton Avenue in Beechview as the steepest street in the continental US as part of America’s 250th anniversary. I’ve driven this street once and my Honda felt like it was struggling. I don’t know how those bicyclists were doing it. If you live on or near this street, I pray for you.
Science of Speed at Kamin Science Center
If you love indoor go-kart racing, this one is for you. Kamin Science Center is opening up its Science of Speed exhibit on August 1st. On top of the racetrack, they’ll have racing simulators, an interactive exhibit on the physics of speed, and a themed lounge to eat/drink after your fun.
Would you chip in to buy the Pirates?
The Cat Report

Spike from Nose 2 Tail Cat Rescue
Its time for Spike to find his furever home.
This sweet boy has been in foster care since he was just 3 days old, and what a journey it has been. As much as his foster family loves him, fostering isnt forever. Its finally Spikes turn to have a family of his very own.
Spike truly is the total package. He loves to cuddle, adores other cats, and has never met a person he didnt want to be friends with. Hes easygoing, affectionate, playful, curious, and just the right amount of goofy.
Over the last year, Spike has overcome more than most cats ever will. He developed food allergies, so hell need to stay on a prescription diet. He also underwent two surgeries to correct luxating patellas in both of his back legs. Through every appointment, every surgery, and every recovery, he handled it all like a champ.
See Yinz next Tuesday
